Membership Information
Interested in joining our golf club?
We’re always excited to welcome new members – male or female (over 18yrs) - who are looking to take their social golf to the next level (without the huge expense of joining a private club). Peninsula Golf Club enjoys he casual relaxed atmosphere of playing golf at a public course, whist at the same time holding bi-weekly competitions played to the rules of golf and with an official Golf Australia handicap.
What kind of golfer do I need to be?
New to the game of with many years of experience, either way, don’t worry – we’re certainly not expecting perfection - we only really need to establish that you can play 18-holes to a ‘reasonable’ standard and keep up with the pace of play. There is no magic score that you need to beat to become a member, however as a guide if you can play 18-holes in under 110 shots (male) or 120 (female) then you are looking good. That said, this is just a guide. If you're a little over those scores, we still encourage you to apply. The important thing is showing your ability and potential during your initial three rounds used for handicapping. We look at each application individually and with an open mind. You might be asked to play a few more rounds or consider some coaching before joining – but we’re here to support you on your journey.
How to get started
Contact golf@peninsulagolfclub.com.au, mention that you are interested in joining and would like to try and get a game (note Wedneday or Sunday only). We’ll let you know if it’s OK and give you some details about what to do on the day and who you'll likely be playing with.
Getting your first handicap
If you don’t have an active Golf Australia, you’ll need to play three rounds with us, and one of the members that you’ve been teamed up with will keep a manual scorecard for you which should be co-signed and dated post-game and handed in to the match committee. At least one round must be with a committee member. These rounds help us assess your playing level and will be used to determine your handicap. In some cases, we may adjust this process based on your experience / ability.
Becoming a member
Download our membership application form and complete this once you’ve played your 3 rounds. You’ll also need a nominator – an existing member who’s been with us for at least 12 months and likely to be one that was in one of your recent groups. This nominating member can also help you get to know the Club and offer guidance after you first join.
After your application is approved by the Committee and membership fees are paid, we’ll register you with the Golf Australia and get you an official handicap. During this process you can continue to play as a visitor.
If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to get in touch, but otherwise we’re looking forward to meeting you out on the course! golf@peninsulagolfclub.com.au
